In NC this summer, I found this recipe in a magazine, and since I love Sloppy Joes of basically all types, kept this. It is, however, adjusted to my tastes. :)

Ingredients For nc sloppy joes, my way

2 lbground chuck

1 mdonion, chopped (use a sweet one) i use 2 large vidallia onions

1 mdgreen pepper, chopped (i prefer orange, yellow or red pepper in this)

1 tspgarlic powder (i use a spoon of minced garlic from the fridge!)

1/2 cketchup
-
1/2 cwater
-
1 Tbspbrown sugar

3 Tbsptomato paste
-
1 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspblack pepper
-
2 tspchili powder
-
hot sauce to taste (i omit)
How To Make nc sloppy joes, my way

1Cook onion, ground beef and pepper, over med-high heat, stirring to break up, until beef is cooked through. Drain well then return to pan.

2Reduce heat to med. Stir in all but hot sauce. Reduce heat and simmer 30 min. Add hot sauce to taste and serve.
