I found this recipe in a cookbook years ago and somehow I have misplaced it! Now I just "guestimate" and basically dump it all in a gallon Ziploc bag. It makes a super-flavorful and tender steak which is great on the grill. I have also cooked on low in a Crock Pot.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

There's nothing better than grilling steak when the weather is warmer and the marinade for this flank steak is excellent. It gives the meat a great smoky flavor and nicely tenderizes the meat. After the steak has rested, cut into it and you'll find a surprisingly tender and juicy steak. This flank steak recipe will instantly become your go-to for summer BBQ's.

Ingredients For "my fav" marinated flank steak

  • 3 Tbsp
    A-1 or any steak sauce
  • 4 Tbsp
Italian dressing or garlic salad dressing
  • 1/4 c
    BBQ sauce, your favorite
  • 1 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 2-4 Tbsp
liquid smoke (I use a lot)
  • 1
    dash of tobasco sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • pepper
  • 2-3 lb
    beef flank steak

How To Make "my fav" marinated flank steak

  • Marinade ingredients added to a resealable bag.
    1
Add all the ingredients into a gallon resealable bag; mix well. I usually put about 3 Tbsp of each sauce; except the soy and tobasco, about a half palmful of the spices in. If you like you can add about 1/2 cup water to make it thinner.
  • Letting the steak marinate.
    2
Add the flank steak and marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours or if you have time overnight. The longer the better.
  • Steak on the grill.
    3
Grill over medium heat for about 7 min per side or to your liking.
  • Letting the grilled steak rest.
    4
Let sit 5-10 minutes before cutting.
  • Cutting the steak against the grain.
    5
Slice across the grain or it will not be tender.
  • Steak sliced and served with grilled avocado.
    6
**If you want to slow cook it, just place in a Crock Pot over 4 large peeled carrots, put the marinade in also. Cover with some large sliced onions. Cook on low for 8 hours.
