My husband and I always look forward to the cooler months so we can warm up with a bowl of "Mom's Chili"! This is a very mild chili and easy on the stomach.

Ingredients For mom's chili

  • 2 lb
    lean ground beef (93/7)
  • 1/2 lg
    sweet onion, chopped
  • 2-16oz can
    mild chili beans
  • 2-16oz can
    diced tomatoes
  • 1 pkg
    dry mild chili seasoning
  • 1/2-1 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1-2 tsp
    sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour

How To Make mom's chili

  • 1
    Spray dutch oven with cooking spray. Brown ground beef with onions. Drain. (I rinse mine with hot water to remove any fat that might remain.)

    Stir in chili seasoning, salt, pepper, cumin, and flour.

    Add chili beans and tomatoes; stir. Add approximately 1/2 cup water to create the consistency that you like. Simmer for about 1 hour.

    Serve with shredded cheese and oyster crackers. Enjoy!!!
