This is a recipe that my mother-in-law has been making for many years. It is one of my husband's favorite recipes.

Ingredients For mom's cheeseburger pie

  • 1
    9" pie crust
  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1/4 c
    onion, chopped
  • 1/4 c
    green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1
    small can of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
    dried bread crumbs, seasoned
  • 1/2 tsp
    seasoning salt
  • 2 c
    shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic

How To Make mom's cheeseburger pie

    Preheat oven to 350.
  • 2
    Lightly bake empty pie shell, set aside.

    Crumble ground beef into a large skillet. Saute over medium heat until brown and drain, then add onion, garlic and green pepper. Continue to saute until onion is clear. Mix in 1/2 c tomato sauce, bread crumbs, and seasoning salt. Spoon mixture into pastry shell.

    In a medium bowl, mix together cheese, milk, worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Spread mixture over meat filling.

    Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until topping is puffy and lightly browned. Allow to set for 10-15 minutes before serving.
