This is my mother's recipe fore carne guisada. I STILL can't make it as yummy as hers! :)

Ingredients For mommy's carne guisada

1 can(8oz) V8

2 tspblack pepper

6 sprigcilantro, fresh

1/8 ccumin powder (cumino)

2 Tbspgarlic, minced

1/2 lggreen bell pepper, seeded, julianne+

2 lblean sirloin, cubed

2 Tbspmasa harina*
-
2 Tbspsalt
-
1 lgstew pot (or crock pot)

1 lgsweet yellow onion (1015 or Vidallia), rough chopped

2 lgtomatoes, rough chopped
-
2 cwater
How To Make mommy's carne guisada

1In Large Stew Pot, combine Water and Masa Harina over Medium heat. Stir until dissolved. USING A CROCK POT: Dissolve Masa Harina in the Water in a seperate stew pot or microwave safe dish, then pour into crock pot. Continue recipe.

2Add Salt, Black Pepper, Cumin Powder, Garlic, V8. Stir to combine.

3Reduce heat to Low.

4Add Meat, Onion, Green Bell Pepper, Tomato, Cilantro.

5Cover and ignore for 2-4 hours. USING A CROCK POT: Dish can be set to cook all day if you are a career mommy/daddy with a day job.

6Turn off heat, let cool a few minutes before serving.

7+ Yellow Bell Pepper may be substituted for Green Bell Pepper if there is a sensative stomach coming to dinner. For added mildness, remove the inner membrane before adding to the dish.

8* For thicker sauce, increase this amount. Be sure to taste and adjust the rest of the seasonings to avoid any corn taste coming through.
