Here is another recipe from Grandma's old Good Housekeeping book, "hamburger & hot dog book". This is one that is simple and very different from the run-of-the-mill sandwiches.

Ingredients For mexicanos

  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground chuck
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 8 x 8 x 2 pan of baked cornbread
  • 1 can
    chili, heated or baked beans

How To Make mexicanos

  • 1
    Season the chuck with salt and shape into 6 patties; saute to desired rareness.
  • 2
    Meanwhile, cut cornbread into squares, split, and toast.
  • 3
    Serve one patty on each square and pour hot chili or baked beans over all. Can accompany with tomato soup.
