I found this recipe 15 years ago in a bake off contest. I would love to give the person credit but I don't know her name. I have made this numerous times and it is such a great and different recipe. I love the crunch of the Doritos on top.

Ingredients For mexican casserole pie

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 can
    kidney beans
  • 1 lb
    salsa
  • 1/4 c
    tomato sauce (like hunts in a can)
  • 1
    small onion chopped
  • 1 lb
    mont. jack cheese, sliced
  • 1
    16 oz. sour cream
  • 1
    6 oz. bag dorito cheese chips

How To Make mexican casserole pie

  • 1
    Brown beef and add drained kidney beans, salsa, sauce, onion and 1 1/2 cups cheese. Bake in a 2 qt. casserole uncovered at 375 for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and spread top with 1 1/2 cup sour cream. Cover with 1/2 c mont. jack. Surround edges with Dorito chips and return to oven for another 4 to 5 minues or until cheese is melted.
