A friend gave me this recipe. Haven't tried it but she's a great cook so I'm sure this is a good recipe.

Ingredients For mexi taco pie

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 pkg
    taco seasoning mix
  • 1 c
    picante sauce (8 oz)
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1
    9 in. frozen pie crust
  • 1/2 c
    monterey jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 can
    chopped green chilis
  • 1 c
    monterey jack cheese, shredded
  • 1/3 c
    tortilla chips, broken
  • garnish: shredded lettuce, sour cream, picante sauce, onions, tomatoes

How To Make mexi taco pie

    Brown ground chuck and drain fat. Put back in pan and stir in 1 envelope taco seasoning mix and 1 cup picante sauce.

    Remove from heat and stir in lightly beaten egg.

    In this order, layer 1/2 cup Monterey Jack cheese, 1 can chopped green chilis, cooked ground beef mixture, 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, and 1/3 cup tortilla chips.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes (place casserole on a cookie sheet for baking).

    Garnish with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, picante sauce, onion, olives -- go crazy! You choose!
