My whole family loves this recipe. My memere passed it down to her 5 children. My mom and her siblings all make it for my cousins and me at the many family gatherings we have. It feeds a large number of people and it doesn't cost a lot to make. My memere always added a few extra vegetables and cut them up really small so we wouldn't notice them. My memere had to really stretch a dollar as far as she could to feed 3 boys and 2 girls, my pepere, and great-grandmother on one pay check from the mill. Everytime we eat them, we think of her and how much we love and miss her.

Ingredients For memere's dynamites

  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 4 lg
    green peppers
  • 4 lg
    orange, yellow, or red peppers
  • 2 lg
    onions
  • 2 clove
    garlic
  • 1/2 pkg
    shredded carrots
  • 28 oz
    can of tomato sauce
  • ground chili pepper(to taste)
  • salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 15
    submarine sandwich rolls

How To Make memere's dynamites

  • 1
    brown ground beef in large skillet with salt and pepper.
  • 2
    Cut peppers and onions into thin slices. Dice garlic.
  • 3
    Drain ground beef of fats and juices.
  • 4
    place all ingredients into a crock-pot. Cover, and cook on low for 3-5 hours, or until all vegetables are soft.

    Spoon dynamites into sandwich roll, and add chili pepper if desired.
