My daughter used to work in a nursing home. Mary Forebeck was one of her patients. Mary loved cooking for family and friends. She shared this recipe with me. It is great for a busy evening meal.

Ingredients For mary's simple salisbury steak

  • 1 can
    cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 lb
    ground chuck
  • 1/2 c
    dried bread crumbs
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 1/4 c
    minced onion
  • 1 1/2 c
    sliced mushrooms

How To Make mary's simple salisbury steak

    In a bowl, mix 1/4 cup of soup, chuck, bread crumbs, egg and onion. Shape firmly into 6 oval patties. In a skillet over medium high heat heat 1 tbsp. oil, cook patties until browned. Spoon off fat.

    Stir in remaining soup and mushrooms. Cover; simmer 20 - 25 minutes, turning occaionally.
