I learned how to make this when working in a deli in Houston, Texas...many many many years ago, you can adjust recipe to suit any amount of servings

Ingredients For loose meat sandwich

  • 2 pkg
    ground beef, not too lean
  • 1 lg
    green pepper
  • 3 Tbsp
    dried onions
  • 1 Tbsp
    sea salt and pepper
  • 1 pkg
    sliced swiss cheese
  • 1 pkg
    hoagie rolls or individual sandwich rolls

How To Make loose meat sandwich

    chop green pepper and onions into tiny pieces
  • 2
    break down the ground beef into very small chunks
  • 3
    put ground beef in large quart pan
  • 4
    add peppers and onions to the meat
  • 5
    simmer on medium low, keep breaking down meat.. you DO NOT want to brown the meat

    keep stirring mixture until meat, onions and peppers are are done..meat not pink, onions and peppers cooked

    DO NOT DRAIN

    turn heat down but not off
  • 9
    slice rolls on 3 side, leaving one side connected

    spread mayonnaise on rolls

    put sliced swiss cheese on top of mayonnaise

    use slotted spoon and scoop mixture on to swiss cheese

    keep lots of napkins handy..it gets really drippy
