MY AUNT LINDA SHOWED ME HOW TO MAKE THIS RECIPE WHEN I WAS 12 YEARS OLD. SHE WAS A GREAT SOUTHERN COOK. THIS IS GOOD WITH RICE AND/OR MASHED POTATO'S.

1 1/2 call purpose flour

1/3 ccanola oil

1 tspsalt and pepper

1/2 tspgarlic powder

How To Make kk's southern fried steak and gravy

1POUR 1 1/2 CUPS FLOUR IN SHALLOW BOWL WITH ALL THE OTHER INGREDIENTS MIX WELL AND DIP THE STEAK ONE AT A TIME IN THE FLOUR , COAT GENTLY SHAKE OFF THE EXCESS FLOUR. PUT ON A PLATE AND REPEAT WITH THE REMAINING STEAK. IN LARGE SKILLET HEAT THE OIL ON HIGH , COOK STEAK FOR 5 MINUTES AND BOTH SIDE UNTIL BROWNED, MAKE SURE THE COATING DOES NOT STICK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SKILLET. PUT THE COOKED STEAK ON PLATE AND DO THE REMAINING STEAKS. GRAVY: POUR SOME OF THE OIL OFF AND PUT IN THE ONION TO COOK UNTIL CLEAR ADD 1/4 CUP FLOUR AND BROWN ADD MILK SLOWLY AND WHISK UNTIL SMOOTH ADD SALT & PEPPER. BRING TO BOIL, STIRRING OFTEN, REDUCE THE HEAT AND SIMMER UNITL THICKEN, IF NEED BE YOU CAN ADD MORE MILK .TRANFER THE STEAK TO A PLATE AND COVER WITH GRAVY OR PUT GRAVY ON THE SIDE.
