This meatball recipe from my Mom's cousin, Josephine, was a great hit! So much so that we now make 10 pans of them each year and sell them as a Sweet BBQ Meatball supper at our church.

Ingredients For josephine's meatballs

  • MEATBALLS:
  • 3 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 can
    evaporated milk
  • 2 c
    oatmeal, uncooked
  • 1/2 c
    onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp
    pepper
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • SAUCE
  • 2 c
    ketchup
  • 1 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/2 c
    onion, finely chopped

How To Make josephine's meatballs

  • 1
    Mix all the meatball ingredients together. Shape into 1" balls, put in greased 9x13 pan, 1 layer only. Mix sauce ingredients. Spoon over meatballs.

    Bake 1 hour uncovered at 350 degrees. Makes 36 meatballs.
