We love pot roast but I wanted to spice it up for a different taste. This is a great way to fix it with herbs and red wine!

Ingredients For italian pot roast

  • 1
    roast, trimmed
  • red potatoes cut into wedges
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 15 oz. can
    tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
    red wine
  • 2 lg
    tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped
  • 4 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1 tsp
    dried oregano
  • 1/2 c
    beef broth, reduced sodium

How To Make italian pot roast

    Brown all sides of roast in vegetable oil.
  • 2
    Combine tomato sauce and next nine ingredients.
  • 3
    Place potatoes in bottom of a crock pot and place roast on top of pototoes. Pour sauce over roast and potatoes.

    Cook in crock pot 8-10 hours or until done. (Or bake, covered at 325 degress for 3 hours or until roast is tender.)
