This is an old Hungarian Goulash recipe that my German Grandma made and my Mom made and I have been making since I was old enough to cook. My husband requests this all the time. We always made ours with flour dumplings but you can use noodles if you prefer.

Ingredients For hungarian goulash

1 lbbeef stew meat

1 clovegarlic i use about 4

2 mdonion diced

2 tsppaprika i use hungarian

1 tspsalt

1 1/8 tsppepper i use about 10 peppercorns

2beef boullion cubes
-
2 cwater divided
-
2 cpotato diced
-
2 Tbspflour
How To Make hungarian goulash

1Cut beef into 1" cubes and brown in a little lard.Add all but one cup of water and potato. Cover and simmer for 2 1/2 hours.

2Add 1 cup water and potatoes cut in 3/4"cubes. Cook 2o min.Thicken with 1/4 cup water and 2 Tbs flour.

3Flour Dumplings: 2 cups flour. 2 eggs. 1 tsp salt. pinch of baking powder.milk to moisten. Add by lgr spoonfulls to boiling water and let cook for about 4 mins after they start to float. Add dumplings to goulash and serve. Note: I usaully double the dumpling recipe.
