Recipe from Pet Milk label awhile ago. These are very moist and quick to make. Can be made in a cast iron skillet or a George Foremann Grill or indoor stove grill. Enjoy! Add bacon strip and a slice of cheese on top of burger, if desired.

Ingredients For hearty game day meat & potato burgers

  • BURGERS:
  • 1 Tbsp
    each of margarine and bacon grease
  • 1/3 c
    minced onion
  • 1 Tbsp
    minced garlic
  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef round
  • 1/2 c
    evaporated milk-pet milk
  • 1/4 c
    instant mashed potato flakes
  • 2 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp
    seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • GLAZE:
  • 1/2 c
    cider apple butter
  • 1/2 c
    tomato ketchup
  • no stick butter spray
  • 1
    french bread baguette, cut lengthwise, then cut into 4 pieces crosswise

How To Make hearty game day meat & potato burgers

    Burgers: Heat margarine and bacon grease in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, cook for 2 minutes. Add garlic cook 1 minute more. Cool.

    Put the ground beef in a medium bowl. To it add the onion mixture, milk, potato flakes, W. sauce, salt & pepper. Gently combine the ingredients well. Shape meat into 4 oval patties. Refrigerate.

    Glaze: Combine ingredients with a whisk until well blended. Cover and set aside.

    Cooking: Coat unheated grill grate with no-stick cooking spray. Heat grill to medium high. Grill burgers 4 to 6 minutes per side or until juices run clear. --- Toast bread. Spray inside of the bread with butter flavored non- stick spray. Place cut side down and place on outer edge of grate.Grill until golden brown.

    Brush burgers with the glaze during last several minutes of cooking. Place a meat patty on each roll bottom, top with additional apple butter/ketchup glaze and on the inside of the rolls top.
