This is a great, hearty, and flavorful chili. I have been tweaking this recipe for a few years, and think I finally have it right.

Ingredients For hearty chili

2 Tbspvegetable oil

2onions, chopped

3 clovegarlic, minced

1 lbground beef
-
3/4 lbbeef sirloin, cubed

1 canpetite diced tomatoes

1 bottle(12oz) dark beer (i use jack's pumpkin spice ale, but i have used guiness in the past)

1 cstrong brewed coffee
-
2 cantomato paste
-
1 canbeef broth
-
1/4 cpacked brown sugar
-
4 Tbspchili powder
-
1 Tbspunsweetened cocoa powder
-
1 tspcayenne pepper
-
1 tspcumin
-
1 tspsalt
-
2 canpinto beans
-
2 cankidney beans
How To Make hearty chili

1Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. cook onions, garlic, ground beef and cubed sirloin in oil for about 10 minutes, or until the meat is well browned and the onions are tender.

2Mix in the diced tomatoes, dark beer, coffee, tomato paste, and beef broth. Season with brown sugar, chili powder, cayenne pepper, cumin, cocoa powder and salt. Stir in two cans of beans.

3Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.

4Srit in the remaining two cans of beans and simmer another 30 minutes.
