Ingredients For hamburger mix

  • 2 c
    celery, finely chopped
  • 2 c
    onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 c
    salad oil
  • 4 lb
    ground beef, lean
  • 4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 2 can
    tomato sauce, 15 oz size

How To Make hamburger mix

    Cook celery and onion in oil in large kettle for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally. Add beef and cook until red color disappears. Drain any fat. Add salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and tomato sauce to kettle. Cover and cook 10 minutes. Cool quickly. pour into freezer bags measuring 1 pint and freeze until ready to use. Or just heat a portion of the mix and spoon it onto hamburger buns. Makes 12 cups. To thaw, place in fridge overnight or in morning before work. Can set in a container in hot water until contents will pour or defrost in microwave.

    Easy Chili Con Carne: 1 pt Hamburger mix, 1 pound can tomatoes, chopped; 1 can hominy, 2-15 oz cans kidney beans and 2 to 3 tsp. chili powder placed in saucepan. Simmer for 20 minutes or till hot. Stir occasionally. 6 servings

    Italian Macaroni skillet Dish: 1 pt. Hamburger Mix, 1 pound can tomatos, cut up; 1-8oz can tomato sauce, 2 c. water, 1 tsp salt, 2 medium cloves garlic, minced; 1 tsp. dried oregano in a 12 inch skillet. Bring to a boil. Add macaroni. Cover and simmer about 30 minutes, until macaroni is tender, stirring occasinally. Stir in 1 cup creamed cottage cheese. Heat but do not let boil. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. 6 servings

    Pizzaburgers: 1 pt. Hamburger mix; 1/4 tsp. dried oregano; 4 split hamburger buns, toasted. 8 mozzarella cheese or American cheese slices and 8 green pepper rings (opt.). Heat mix and oregano. Spoon onto buns, top with cheese slice and pepper. Place under broiler long enough to melt cheese. 8 sandwiches

    Spanish Rice: 1 pt. Hamburger Mix; 1 pound can tomatoes, cut up; 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped; 1 1/2 cups water and 1 tsp. salt in saucepan/ Bring to boil; stir in 1 cup uncooked rice. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 25 minutes or until rice is tender. Sprinkle with 1 cup shredded cheese-American or cheddar and continue to cook for 5 more minute or until cheese is melted. 6 servings
