Great way to prepare a less expensive cut of steak. Requires 8 hours of marinating time and the sauce needs to chill for an hour. Plan ahead, and this will be ready to serve in no time.

Our only complaint with this grilled flank steak recipe is that we didn't make two steaks! The marinade has a slight Asian flair, but the flavors aren't overpowering. It helps to tenderize the tender and juicy flank steak. The tangy sherry-mustard sauce is perfect for dipping. If you like horseradish, you can add a touch of that for a little zing.

How To Make grilled flank steak with sherry-mustard sauce

Test Kitchen Tips
We grilled our flank steak 4 minutes on each side for medium rare.
  • Score the flank steak on each side.
    1
Score the steak 1/4 inch deep on both sides.
  • Whisk together sherry, soy sauce, green onions, black pepper, Dijon mustard, and ginger.
    2
Combine 1/3 cup sherry, soy sauce, green onions, black pepper, Dijon mustard, and ginger in a small bowl; stir well.
  • Marinate the flank steak.
    3
Either marinate the steak in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Marinate for 8 hours.
  • Whisk together the sauce ingredients and chill for 1 hour.
    4
For the sauce, combine all sauce ingredients in a small bowl; stir well. Cover and chill 1 hour.
  • Remove the steak from the marinade and grill.
    5
Remove the steak from the marinade; discard the marinade. Grill steak over medium coals or broil 6 inches from the heat for 6 to 8 minutes on each side or until your desired degree of doneness.
  • Slice steak against the grain when serving.
    6
To serve, slice diagonally across the grain into thin slices. Serve with Sherry-Mustard Sauce.
