Ingredients For german-style roast beef

3 - 3 1/2 lbbeef chuck roast

3 ccarrots, sliced

3 conions, sliced
-
1 ccelery, sliced

2 lgkosher dill pickles, chopped

1/2 cdry red wine or you can use beef broth
-
1/3 cgerman-style mustard
-
2 tspcoarsely ground black pepper
-
2bay leaves
-
1/4 tspground cloves
-
1/3 cflour
-
1 ccold water
How To Make german-style roast beef

1Spray the interior of the slow cooker with vegetable spray.

2Brown roast on both sides in a small amount of oil in a skillet. Place roast into the slow cooker.

3Sprinkle carrots, onions, celery and pickles around the roast in the slow cooker.

4Combine wine or broth, mustard, pepper, bay leaves and cloves in a bowl and mix well. Pour over ingredients in the slow cooker.

5Cook on low for 6-8 hours or to your liking. Then remove meat and vegetables to a large platter - cover to keep warm.

6Mix flour with 1 cup cold water in a bowl or measuring cup and mix until smooth. Turn crockpot to high and stir in flour-water mixture, stirring continually until broth is smooth and thickened.

7Slice meat and top with vegetables. Serve with gravy on the side.
