1.5 lblean ground chuck

1/2 tspmarjoram

1 Tbspsugar

2 Tbspred wine vinegar

1/2 cchopped onion

1 cchicken broth

3/4 cfresh sauerkraut

1 lbapples, cored, sliced

1.5 lbred cabbage, chopped

4 slicebacon, chopped
-
pepper to taste

1/2 tspmarjoram

1 tspsalt
-
2 Tbspgrated onion

1/4 cfresh sauerkraut

1/2 cbread crumbs
-
3/4 capples, finely chopped

1egg, beaten
-
1/2 tspcaraway seeds
How To Make german meatballs with red cabbage

1For meatballs, mix first 9 ingredients in bowl.

2Shape into 16 meatballs.

3Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp.

4Remove bacon with slotted spoon and set aside.

5Brown meatballs in bacon drippings until browned on all sides.

6Remove to a warm platter.

7Add remaining ingredients to pan.

8Heat to a boil, stirring frequently.

9Add meatballs.

10Simmer, covered for 30 minutes.

11Spoon into serving bowls; sprinkle with reserved bacon.
