Ingredients For favorite slow cooked beef stew

  • 1-1/2 to 2 lb
    stew meat, cut into cubes
  • 5 Tbsp
    flour
  • 4-5
    red potatoes, (2-1/2 to 3 inch), quartered
  • 2
    carrots, peeled and chopped into 1 to 2 inch pieces
  • 1 jar
    (12 ounces) beef gravy
  • 1 can
    (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1
    onion, sliced

How To Make favorite slow cooked beef stew

    On waxed paper, sprinkle with 2 tbsps. flour, 2 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp. pepper; toss to coat in 10 inch skillet, heat about 1 tbsp. oil over medium high heat. Add coated beef; cook and stir 4 to 6 minutes. ..

    Layer carrots, potatoes, and onion. Add browned beef, sprinkle with any remaining flour mixture. Top with gravy and tomatoes. Cover, cook on low heat 8 to 10 hours.

    Before serving, in a small bowl, blend 3 remaining tbsps. flour with 1/4 cup of cold water. Stir into stew. Increase heat to high; cover and cook 10 minutes longer or until thickened.
