Ingredients For easy cottage pie

  • 6 Tbsp
    butter, divided
  • 1 c
    diced onion
  • 1 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 c
    (8 oz.) canned or bottled brown gravy
  • 2 c
    mashed potatoes (i use bob evans refrigerated)

How To Make easy cottage pie

    In a large skillet, heat 4 Tbsp. butter. Add the onion and cook, stirring often, until lightly browned.

    Add the beef, salt and pepper, and cook until beef is browned.

    Stir in the gravy and heat until bubbling.

    Spoon the mixture into a greased 2-qt. casserole dish. Spread mashed potatoes over the top of meat and dot with pieces of remaining butter.

    In a preheated 400-degree oven, bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until potatoes are lightly browned.
