deep dish beef pie

I have made this a few times. Sometimes I use left over stew from the night before. It's a better way of using leftovers. My uncle calls it "day after stew pie" kind of as a personal family joke.

Ingredients For deep dish beef pie

1 lbboneless beef sirloin,1/2 inch pieces

1 tspvegetable oil
-
1 conion, chopped
-
1 ccelery, chopped
-
1 ccarrots, sliced
-
1 cwater
-
1 1/2 ctomato juice
-
3/4 tspbasil, dried

1/4 tspsalt
-
1/8 tsppepper
-
1 Tbspflour
-
2 cgreen beans
-
1 tspmilk
-
1pie crust shell
How To Make deep dish beef pie

1Spray large frying pan or skillet with non-stick oil. Heat pan over medium heat. Heat oven to 400F.

2Brown half the meat at a time. Return all the meat to the pan.

3Stir in the next 9 ingredients, cover pan & let simmer for about 50 to 60 mins or until meat is nearly tender.

4Combine the flour with with 2 tsp. of water & stir into a mixture. Pour over the meat & veggies & cook until thickened. Make sure to mix offen & it should be bubbly.

5Then stir in the green beans.

6Stir into 1 1/2 quart casserole baking dish.

7Cover with pastry crust top, flute the edges, cut vents for steam & brush with the milk.

8Bake for about 30 mins or until pie crust is lightly brown & mixture is tender.
