My family does not like the overwhelming tomato test of most chilies and really like Steak 'n Shakes' chili for that reason. This is my version and it was a hit! Best of all, I can do the prep work the evening before and then just toss it in the crockpot in the morning.

Ingredients For crockpot chili

  • 3 lb
    ground beef 90% lean
  • 2 lg
    onions, chopped
  • 4 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 28 oz
    can diced tomatoes
  • 4 can
    beans (15.5 oz each), drained
  • 2 can
    condensed tomato soup (10 3/4 oz each)
  • 1 c
    water
  • 4 tsp
    cumin
  • 1/2 c
    chili powder

How To Make crockpot chili

  • 1
    Brown beef, onion and garlic. Drain off fat and put meat in a 6 quart crockpot.

    Run canned tomatoes through food processor or blender (unless you like little chunks of tomato in your chili). Add to crockpot.

    Add remaining ingredients and stir thoroughly. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.

    Serve with cornbread or crackers.
