I am retired now but when i was working, I relied on crock pot meals often. after a long hard day it is wonderful to have a hot meal waiting for you when you get home especially if it is comfort food on a cold winter day.

Ingredients For crock pot stew

  • 2 lb
    beef stew meat, cut in cubes
  • 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1/4 c
    vegetable oil
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    ketchup
  • 1/4 c
    cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 c
    onions, chopped
  • 3 c
    carrots, sliced
  • 2
    potatoes, cubed

How To Make crock pot stew

  • 1
    Mix flour with salt and pepper. Dredge stew beef in flour mixture. Heat oil in skillet and brown the stew meat on all sides.

    I a crock pot, mix all remaining ingredients and add meat. Cover and cook 6-8 hours until carrots and potatoes are tender.

    I like to serve this with corn bread.
