Got this from a friend over 30 years ago! Our family still enjoys it when we get together. This is a great supper meal served with a fruit salad!

Ingredients For country pie

  • 1/2 c
    tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
    bread crumbs
  • 1/4 c
    chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 lb
    hamburger
  • 1/4 c
    chopped greeen pepper - (optional)
  • 1/8 tsp
    oregano - (optional)
  • FILLING:
  • 1 1/3 c
    minute rice
  • 1 1/2 c
    tomato sauce
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    grated cheddar cheese

How To Make country pie

  • 1
    For the crust: mix the hamburger, tomato sauce, bread crumbs, onion, salt & pepper, green pepper & oregano together. Press on sides & bottom of large pie plate.

    Combine filling ingredients using only 1/4 cup of the cheese. Spoon onto the meat crust. Cover with foil.

    Bake @ 350 for 25 minutes. Uncover & sprinkle top with remaining cheese. Bake uncovered 10-15 minutes longer or until cheese is melted nicely.
