Ingredients For cincinnati-style chili

2 1/2 lbground beef

2 lgonions, chopped

3 can8-oz each, tomato sauce

1 cwater
-
1/2 ozunsweetened chocolate, cut up

2 Tbspchili powder
-
2 Tbspapple cider vinegar
-
2 tspworcestershire sauce
-
1 1/2 tspcinnamon
-
1 tspground cumin
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1/4 tspgarlic powder
-
1/4 tspground allspice
-
1/8 tspground cloves
-
1bay leaf
-
1dried red chili pepper or
-
1/4 tspground red pepper
-
hot cooked spaghetti noodles
- GARNISH
-
chopped onions
-
shredded cheddar cheese
-
1 can15-oz kidney beans, drained and warmed

oyster crackers
-
hot sauce
How To Make cincinnati-style chili

1In a 4 1/2 quart Dutch oven or heavy saucepan, cook ground beef with the 2 onions until beef is no longer pink; drain off any fat.

2Add the tomato sauce, water, chocolate, chili powder, vinegar, worchestershire sauce, cinnamon, cumin, salt, garlic powder, allspice, clove, bay leaf, and red chili pepper or ground red pepper.

3Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, over low heat for 45 minutes or until desired consistency; stirring once or twice.

4Remove bay leaf and, if using, chili pepper. Serve over hot cooked spaghetti and, if desired, top with onions, cheese and/or beans. Offer Oyster crackers and hot sauce!
