Ingredients For meat and bean chili

  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 lb
    mild sausage
  • 1 can
    29 oz. kidney beans with liquid
  • 1 can
    29 oz. pinto beans with liquid
  • 1 c
    onion, diced (~1 medium onion)
  • 1/4 c
    diced celery (1 stalk)
  • 2 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1 can
    29 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
    diced gree chili (2 chilies)
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 2 c
    water
  • 3 md
    tomatoes, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 2 tsp
    salt

How To Make meat and bean chili

  • 1
    brown ground beef and sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off the fat. Using a fork, crumble the meat into small pieces.

    In a large pot, combine the meat plus all the remaining ingredients. Bring to a simmer over low heat. Cook, stirring every 15 minutes or so, for 3 hours, Serves about 12.
