Ingredients For chili

    lean ground beef
  • 1/4 tsp
    oregano, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp
    cumin
  • 1 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 sm
    bay leaf
  • 1
    minced garlic clove
  • 8 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 16 oz
    tomatoes, drained and diced
  • 16 oz
    kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1
    green pepper, diced
  • 1
    finely chopped onion
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 2-3 tsp
    chili powder

How To Make chili

    In a heavy pot melt butter.
  • 2
    Crumble meat into pot.
  • 3
    Cook a few minutes until meat is no longer pink.

    Remove.

    To the pot, add onion and pepper.

    Cook a few minutes, stirring, until vegetables are soft.

    Add meat.

    Stir to combine.

    Add remaining ingredients.

    Heat to a boil.

    Reduce heat.

    Cook, stirring occasionally, at least 45 minutes.

    Remove bay leaf.
