I love cabbage rolls, but don't always have the time to put them together or sometime have a hard time finding nice cabbage leaves to make the rolls. One day I thought why not just mix it all together and bake it...it turned out wonderful and I have been making this dish for years!

Ingredients For cabbage roll cassersole

  • 2 lb
    ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 md
    head of cabbage chopped, core removed
  • 1 c
    rice, long grain
  • 2 c
    water
  • 1 lg
    onion, chopped
  • 1 can
    tomato sauce 1lb.12 oz large can
  • 1 Tbsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make cabbage roll cassersole

  • 1
    Preheat over to 350. In medium saucepan, bring rice and water to a boil. Turn down to a simmer and cover, cook for 20-25 minutes until rice is tender.

    While rice is cooking, in large skillet cook hambuger or turkey with onion and garlic powder. In another skillet saute the cabbage with the oil until tender, not mushy. And in salt and pepper to taste.

    Mix all in a large mixing bowl when done with tomato sauce, put in greased 9x13 dish and cover. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Good served with hot french bread.
