Fooled a good friend with this one a long time ago. She has never forgiven me for feeding her venison. But that's what she got for breaking into my lunch!

  • 1 lb
    ground venison, ground beef or shredded meat
  • 1 1/2 c
    finely shredded cabbage
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped
  • 1 stick
    celery, chopped
  • 1/4 c
    green pepper, chopped
  • 1 c
    catsup
  • 3 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp
    white vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    mustard
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • dash
    pepper
  • 8
    sandwich rolls

How To Make cabbage 'n venison sloppy joes

    In a large skillet, cook the ground meat, cabbage, onion, celery and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are crisp-tender; drain. NOTE: If using shredded meat, pre-cook and add to skillet after vegetables have cooked.

    Stir in the catsup, brown sugar, lemon juice, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until cabbage is tender. Spoon ½ cup onto each roll.
