Ingredients For cabbage beef casserole

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 2
    onions, diced
  • 1
    cabbage, coarsely cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces
  • 2
    carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 3/4 c
    long grain rice, uncooked
  • 14 1/2 oz
    beef broth
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    salt

How To Make cabbage beef casserole

    1 About 1 3/4 hours before serving: In 5 quart dutch oven or saucepot over high heat, cook ground beef and onions until pan juices evaporate and meat is well browned, stirring occasionally. 2 Remove dutch oven from heat. 3 Add cabbage, carrots, pepper and 2 1/2 teaspoons salt. 4 Toss to mix well. 5 Pour rice into 3 quart casserole. 6 Spoon beef mixture on top of rice. 7 Pour beef broth and 1/2 cup water over mixture. 8 Cover. 9 Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes in a 350 degree oven. 10 To serve, stir ground beef with rice to mix well.
