Ingredients For bobotie

2 lbground beef or 1 # ground beef and 1#ground pork

2onions,chopped

1 can(16oz)tomatoes
-
1 1/2 Tbspsugar

2 Tbspcurry powder
-
2 Tbspvinegar
-
salt
-
2firm bananas,sliced
-
1apple,peeled,cored and diced

1 Tbspapricot jam or 4 canned apricots,sliced

1/4 cslivered almonds
-
tomato juice for thinning

cooked rice for serving under the babootie
How To Make bobotie

1Brown meat and drain off fat. Add onions,tomatoes(with juice),sugar,curry powder,vinegar,salt to taste,bananas,apple,jam or apricots,and almonds.

2Simmer gently,stirring frequently,for 30 minutes Add tomato juice if too thick.

3Serve over rice.
