I don't remember where I found this recipe, but my family loves it. We have taken it to church dinners and have had good comments. I'm always looking for new recipes for church functions.

Ingredients For best ever meatloaf

  • 2 eggs
    beaten
  • 2/3 c.
    milk
  • 3
    slices of bread torn into pieces
  • 1/2 c.
    chopped onions
  • 1/2 c.
    chopped bell pepper
  • 1 c.
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp.
    salt
  • 1 tsp.
    sage, dried
  • 1/4 tsp.
    pepper
  • 1 1/2 lbs.
    ground beef
  • TOPPING:
  • 1 tsp.
    mustard
  • 1/2 c.
    tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c.
    brown sugar

How To Make best ever meatloaf

    In a large bowl, beat eggs. Add milk and bread; let stand a few minutes or until bread absorbs the liquid.

    Stir in the onion, bell pepper, cheese, herbs and seasonings. Add beef; mix well.

    In a shallow baking pan, shape beef mixture into a 7 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch loaf. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 mins.

    Combine the topping ingredients; spoon some over meat loaf. Bake for about 30 mins. longer. Occasionally spooning some of the remaining topping over loaf. Let stand 10 mins. before serving.
