Ingredients For beer braised short ribs

  • 4 lb
    beef short ribs
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2 md
    carrots cut into one inch pieces
  • 1 md
    yellow onion diced
  • 4 clove
    garlic mincec
  • 3 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 c
    beef broth
  • 12 oz
    bottle founders porter dark beer or your favorite dark beer
  • 4 sprig
    thyme
  • 4 sprig
    rosemary

How To Make beer braised short ribs

    Preheat oven 300 degrees. Season the ribs with salt and pepper. Add oil to large ovenproof pan with lid. Sear the ribs on all sides in batches then set aside on a plate.

    Add the carrots and onions and cook until softened about 3 minutes.Add the garlic and cook 1 minutes. Add the tomato paste and flour and stir until well incorporated.

    Add the beef stock and beer. Bring to a boil. Then turn the heat off and add the ribs back to the pan. Tie the sprigs of thyme and rosemary together and add to the pot.

    Put lid on pot and place in oven. Bake for about 3 hours. Remove the meat to a plate. Discard the thyme and rosemary sprigs. Remove the vegetables with a slotted spoon and set aside on a plate.

    Put the gravy through a fat separator and separate the fat and discard. Stir the vegetables back into the gravy and serve over the ribs.
