Ingredients For beef stew

  • 2 lb
    beef stew meat
  • 2 Tbsp
    shortening
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 md
    onion (chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp
    marjoram
  • 1 Tbsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    paprika
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/8 tsp
    cloves
  • 6
    carrots,(cubed to bitesize)
  • 6
    potatoes (cubed to bitesize)
  • 6
    onions (cubed to bitesize)
  • 2 c
    hot water
  • 1/3 c
    cold water and 3 tlbs flour (to make thickener)

How To Make beef stew

  • 1
    Brown meat in shortening. Add 2 cups hot water.

    Add seasonings, and chopped onion. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours.

    Add cubed vegetables. Cover and cook 30-40 minutes.
  • 4
    Make thickener with 1/3C cold water and 3 tlbs flour. Stir into stew.
