beef essentials: spicy ground beef & cabbage
Although you can jazz this dish up by add additional veggies, I prefer to keep it relatively simple. It’s got just the right amount of spice, and yet it’s not overly spicy. Plus, it can be on the table in thirty quick minutes. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

How To Make beef essentials: spicy ground beef & cabbage
-
1PREP/PREPARE
-
2Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).
-
3Chef’s Note: For the ground chuck steak… buy it from your butcher, and have him course grind the meat. Another term for coarsely ground beef is: Chili Grind.
-
4Add the butter and grapeseed oil to a skillet over medium heat.
-
5When the foaming subsides, add the chopped onions.
-
6Cook until the onions soften, and begin to brown, about 5 – 7 minutes.
-
7Add the garlic, and sauté until fragrant, about 60 seconds.
-
8Add the coarsely ground beef to the pan.
-
9Stir in the tamari sauce, coconut sugar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and white pepper.
-
10Sauté until the beef is cooked through and brown, about 6 – 8 minutes.
-
11Chef’s Note: Because of the tamari sauce, you probably won’t need to add any salt.
-
12Add the cabbage, and shredded carrots.
-
13Sauté, until the cabbage wilts and softens, about 4 – 6 minutes.
-
14PLATE/PRESENT
-
15Serve up while still nice and warm, and expect your guests to come back for seconds. Enjoy.
-
16Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
