This is a fairly basic recipe for Korean Beef Bulgogi that we've adjusted to suit our taste buds.

Ingredients For beef bulgogi

  • 1 lb
    flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 5 Tbsp
    low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    chopped green onion, divided
  • 2 Tbsp
    minced garlic
  • 3 Tbsp
    sesame seeds, divided
  • 2 Tbsp
    sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1 pinch
    red pepper powder (for a spicy kick)

How To Make beef bulgogi

  • 1
    Place beef in a shallow dish. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, 1/4 cup green onion slices, garlic, sesame seeds, sesame oil, black pepper, onion powder, and red pepper powder (if using). Pour marinade over the beef. Cover dish and marinate in refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight.

    Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil the grill grate.

    Remove beef from the marinade, and quickly grill beef about 3 to 4 minutes per side or until slightly charred and cooked through.

    Garnish servings with remaining 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds and remaining 1/4 cup sliced green onion.
