Ingredients For battered franks

1 cflour
-
1 1/2 tspbaking powder

1 1/2 tspsalt
-
2 Tbspcornmeal
-
3 Tbspshortening
-
1egg
-
3/4 cmilk
-
8-12frankfurters
-
vegetable oil for frying
How To Make battered franks

1Sift together : flour , baking powder , salt ; Mix in cornmeal.

2Cut in shortening ; add egg and milk ; stir until blended.

3Heat vegetable oil up to 365° in deep fat fryer or a large pot.

4Insert a wooden skewer in the end of each Frankfurter if desired.

5Dip frankfurters in batter , 1 at a time.

6Place dipped frankfurter in hot oil , fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.

7Place on paper towel to absorb extra oil.
