Ingredients For chinese tacos (lettuce wraps)

  • 2 lb
    ground white lean chicken breast, you can also use ground turkey breast or leave out altogether for a vegetarian version.
  • 2 bunch
    green onions, chopped or thinly sliced
  • 1 pkg
    broccoli slaw or fresh stir fry veggies. if you use the stir fry veggies, choped them up into small pieces) (do not use frozen)
  • 8 oz
    sliced shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 c
    bean sprouts, fresh
  • 1 c
    water chestnuts
  • 2 Tbsp
    black or roasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 2 tsp
    fresh ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    chinese five spice (optional)
  • 1
    head of fresh lettuce, any of them works great, i have used iceberg and red leaf and both work great
  • 1 c
    teriyaki or lettuce wrap sauce separated into 1 1/2 cup
  • 1/4 c
    ponzu sauce

How To Make chinese tacos (lettuce wraps)

    In a sauté pan brown the chicken in the grape seed and sesame oil. Add 1 bunch of green onions, chopped, the dry seasonings, the fresh ginger and the mushrooms. Sauté until the chicken is done. Try the five spice before you add it, some people don't like the flavors.

    Add the veggies, sesame seeds and ponzu sauce and sauté for an additional 10 minutes. Then stir in 1/2 cup of the teriyaki or lettuce wrap sauce.

    Cut the lettuce into palm size pieces. Place a heaping scoop of the meat mixture into each one. Drizzle each with a little of the teriyaki or lettuce wrap sauce, sprinkle some sesame seeds and a few green onions on top, and that's it!
