Ingredients For individual shortcakes with fresh cherry sauce

1/4 C. sugar

4 tsp. cornstarch

1/4 tsp. salt

1/3 C. water

2 C. pitted sweet cherries, halved

2 tsp. lemon juice

Six 2-1/2-inch warm biscuit shortcakes, split

heavy or light cream
How To Make individual shortcakes with fresh cherry sauce

1In a saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch, salt and water. Cook and stir until thickened and smooth. Add cherries and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice. Spoon between and over split shortcakes in bowls. Pour on cream. If desired, sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg. Serve at once.
