Ingredients: 1 egg; 1 cup self rising flour; 1 cup self rising corn meal; 1 cup milk or buttermilk; 1 Tbs. sugar; 1/2 Tbs. baking powder (you can leave this out, but it makes the hoe cakes rise up really nice); vegetable oil
