10 fresh basil leaves (I used Greek basil leaves)

6 tablespoons sherry vinegar
•
1 slice of thick white bread
•
3/4 pint (450mls) tomato juice
•
2 to 3 drops of hot sauce, to taste (such as Tabasco)

1 tablespoon olive oil
•
salt and pepper, to taste
