I have used this recipe for Christmas breakfast and also for a brunch.

Ingredients For breakfast casserole

  • 12 slice
    bread
  • butter
  • 1 1/2 c
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 12
    eggs
  • 1 1/1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 3 c
    milk
  • 1 lb
    ham, sausage or bacon

How To Make breakfast casserole

    Fry and drain the meat that you want in the casserole, cut into pieces.

    Cut off the crusts from the bread and butter one side of each piece, cut into 1 in square pieces (I usually stack the bread in stacks of four to cut) Place bread in a prepared 9"x 13" baking pan.

    Beat eggs, add salt, mustard, milk, and grated cheese. Mix together, add meat, mix. Pour this mixture over the top of the bread pieces. Cover with plastic wrap and chill over night.

    In the morning, set a pan of water on another shelf in the oven and bake the casserole at 350 for 45 minutes to an hour.
