1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 leeks, sliced
6 carrots, chopped
1 medium to large turnip (also called swede)
285 g / 1.5 cups red lentils (uncooked weight)
1.7 litres / 3 pints / 6 cups vegetable stock (4 stock cubes)
