My Nannie taught this to my mom when she married my dad. When I was little I would drink this instead of milk. Now I am the "Tea" maker . At my neices wedding I made 9 gallons!! A former pastor calls it "High Tess tea"

Once it has a good rolling boil add the 8 tea bags. Let it boil or steep for 2-3 minutes.

While it is steeping add the baking soda- slowly- it will foam up so turn the heat down first. Let that steep about a minute.

To a gallon jug add the 2 1/2 cups of sugar. Pour the hot tea over the sugar and stir. This dissolves the sugar! Now fill the rest of the jug with cold water- and stir well. Serve over ice and enjoy!!
