It tastes kind of yucky, lol but it really works and soothes the throat. It also provides vitami C and A, as well as zinc and magnesium. My babcia had to chase me around the house, when I was a kid, with a spoon of this stuff, but once I got it, I felt better really fast.

How To Make my babcias (grandma) winter syrup
-
1Take a large onion, slice it thinly, put one 1/2 inch layer in a large glass jar, cover with a layer of sugar, then another layer of sliced onion, cover with sugar, do this until the glass jar is 2/3 full. Cover with cheese cloth and let stand until a syrup will form, spoon it and take every time you cough, or your throat itches.

2This is natural and healthy so there are no precautions as to how much you can take, unlike over the counter syrups. It is safe for children and adults. It usually takes 1 to 2 days for the syrup to form so prepare a little more. Once the syrup forms you may store it shortly but since it is onion I wouldn't recommend to store it for more than a week.

3It is always best when prepared fresh.
