This is a very refreshing drink! You can buy the Hibiscus flowers at a Mediterranean OR Hispanic grocery store (cheaper at the Hispanic store!). This is a traditional drink at Egyptian weddings.

Ingredients For egyptian hibiscus tea

  • 4 c
    water
  • 1 c
    dried hibiscus flowers
  • 1/2 c
    sugar, to taste
  • 4 tsp
    honey
  • 2 tsp
    orange flower water

How To Make egyptian hibiscus tea

  • 1
    In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil and remove from heat. Add the Hibiscus flowers and let steep for 45 minutes. Do not let steep any longer than that!

    Strain the tea into a pitcher. Add the sugar, honey and orange blossom water. Adjust sugar and/or honey to your taste.

    Bring to room temp, then refrigerate until well chilled. Serve over ice. If you want to add a garnish, you can use orange slices and a sprig of mint.
