How To Make steaming hot coffee

  • 1
First, choose your coffee. If you like a more traditional, mild coffee, go with a classic roast. If you prefer strong, bold flavors, try a French roast. Experiment.
  • 2
Using a standard carafe coffee maker, fill your carafe with cold water to your desired capacity. Serving size: 6 fluid ounces. Measure water using a standard liquid measuring cup. Pour the water in the reservoir and put the carafe back on the heating plate.
  • 3
Add the desired amount of coffee grounds to the filter: about 1 tablespoon per 5 to 6 fluid ounces of cold water for regular coffee and 2 tablespoons per 5 to 6 ounces for strong coffee.
  • 4
Put the filter basket back in the holder, close the lid, and start the coffee maker.
